English Preview Edition

ATELIER HOMO INNOVATICUS

A space for thinking about the human being in an age of increasingly powerful technologies.

FULL BILINGUAL EDITION WILL BE AVAILABLE  FEBRUARY 2027

The Atelier is currently being developed in German as its primary working language. A fully bilingual German–English edition is planned for February 2027.

Until then, this English Preview Edition offers a curated selection of key ideas, texts and ways into the Homo Innovaticus.

WHICH HUMAN BEING WANTS TO LIVE, SHAPE AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS TIME?

The idea — Homo Innovaticus

Homo Innovaticus is not a new human species and not an optimized superhuman. It is a cultural possibility and an invitation to become: a person who consciously develops creative, social, intuitive and judgmental capacities in order to live and act responsibly with increasingly powerful technologies.

Judgment in the loop

The human being must not only remain in the loop. Human judgment must remain there too.

AI can enlarge the space of possibilities. Human beings must help decide which possibility should become the future.

The origin — The Innovation Tribe

The Atelier grows out of more than four decades of innovation practice and out of the book The Innovation Tribe. The book condensed a learning journey from engineering, product development and open innovation to trust, intuition, AI, human dignity and the Homo Innovaticus.

Talks & encounters

Many ideas of the Atelier develop further in conversation: in universities, innovation communities, conferences and philosophical encounters.

About Hannes Erler

A learning journey from engineering and product development through innovation ecosystems to the question of what human beings need in order to remain creative, responsible and capable of judgment.
